To, Todays !

Sure, COVID deprives us of company. But what's worse is that it has also stolen the joy of solitude...

of finishing mundane tasks and taking solitary walks

of enjoying a few raindrops on your face

of having a bad hair day because of that

of taking shelter at a random store that leads to a purchase - something you didn't really need

of listening to old favourites that transport you to another era

of missing old friends and acquaintances

and even times that weren't so good (but were still better than some days now)

of blaming the rickshaw wala for taking the longer route deliberately

I didn't know I missed myself so much.

Thank you, Today.

Sadabahar

We all need something that never disappoints us, which is why...

We have love

We have sadabahar

We have ourselves

Can we embrace time like we have some?

If you smell like a book..

If you smell like a book..
I will write your preface
And try gauging your essence by the titles of your stories

If you smell like a book...
I will time travel all along with you
At times, travel, too, maybe

If you smell like a book...
I'll flaunt you like an asset
Known far more for its cover

If you smell like a book...
I will keep next to me my dictionary
And undeterred, find out more meanings to you

If you smell like a book...
I will re-read you like my favourite paragraphs
And underline the underlying parts

If you smell like a book...
My bookmarks for you will serve me more than what they are meant for

If you smell like a book...
I will keep you for long so you smell like an old book

And if ever you happen to become my most favourite book,
I shall talk about you nineteen to a dozen and never let go off you..
Only because I don't share things like you

But only if you smell like a book...

Let's!

Like the couplets we two rhyme

But it’d be so cliché to do so all the time

So here I am, giving it a miss

Let’s be like the chalk-n-cheese, you roar while I, chime…

Maybe...

Maybe, if we would've hugged, we would've known how fond we are of each other.
And it would be completely alright for you to not know my favourite colour or my type of movie.
It would've been good to know you're one type, my type.

Maybe, if we would've hugged, your comforting arms would have made me realize that it isn't love. Just love. That it is something more; something more precious than love. Something that I would have looked forward to a lot more than I have looked forward for love.

Maybe, we should've hugged...

#Prelude

“I promise I will never let anything come between us.”
“I trust..."
Before she could complete what she had to say, the baby cried.
That was just the prelude to his broken promise.
